Settings
Open Settings with ⌘, (Ctrl+Alt+S). Every option in the Settings UI is also a key in a JSON settings file, so you can edit either.
Where settings live
| File | Scope |
|---|---|
~/.ingot/settings.json | user settings, for every project |
<project>/.ingot/settings.json | workspace settings; override user settings for this project |
There is no separate
ingot.settings.json file. Ingot's own options are ingot.* keys inside the regular settings.json files above, next to editor settings.Ingot settings
| Key | Values | Default |
|---|---|---|
ingot.appearance | system, light, dark, custom | system |
ingot.layout.chatPosition | right, bottom | right |
ingot.keymap | Ingot (default), Alternative | Ingot (default) |
ingot.autocomplete.enabled | true, false | true |
ingot.autocomplete.model | a model id, or empty for the first connected model | empty |
ingot.autocomplete.debounceMs | milliseconds after typing before a completion request (min 50) | 300 |
ingot.models.byok | use your own keys and local models next to Ingot models | false |
ingot.models.ollamaUrl | base URL of the local Ollama server | http://127.0.0.1:11434 |
ingot.models.overrides | provider model name overrides, e.g. { "ollama": "llama3.2" } | {} |
API keys are never settings: the IDE keeps them in the OS keychain.
