FAQ

Is Ingot free?

Yes. Ingot is open source under Apache-2.0, and the full IDE is free. The Free plan includes a monthly allowance of Ingot Fast tokens, and using your own keys or local models is free on every plan. Paid plans add the Smart and Reasoning models and larger allowances.

Do I need an account?

Only for Ingot's hosted models, usage tracking and teams. With your own keys or Ollama you can use Ingot without signing in.

Which models can I use?

Ingot Fast, Smart and Reasoning, specific hosted models from the major model families, your own keys for Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek or any compatible endpoint, and local models through Ollama. See Models & limits.

Is my code sent anywhere?

Only to the model you choose, when an agent or autocomplete needs it. With a local model nothing leaves your machine. Usage records on Ingot's servers hold counts (requests, tokens, cost), not your prompt text.

Will my existing rules work?

Yes. Ingot reads AGENTS.md, its own .ingot/ folder and the rules folders other AI tools create, plus existing mcp.json files. See Rules.

Can I keep my keyboard shortcuts?

Ingot's default keymap is IDE-style, and Alternative switches to your platform's standard editor shortcuts. Every shortcut can be rebound. See Keymap.

Where are the installers?

Signed installers for macOS, Windows and Linux are coming. Until a release is published, build from source. The download page updates automatically when one exists.

Which languages does the portal speak?

English, Hebrew and Spanish, with light, dark and system themes.

How do I report a bug?

Open an issue at github.com/yaghobieh/ingot and attach the latest log from ~/.ingot/logs.
