Getting started

Ingot is an open-source AI IDE. It pairs a compact, keyboard-first IDE layout with agents that read your project, propose edits you review hunk by hunk, and work with any model: Ingot's hosted models, your own keys, or local models.

Five-minute tour

  1. Install Ingot. Desktop installers are on the way; today you build from source.
  2. Sign in from Account at the bottom left. Your browser finishes the sign-in and hands it back to the IDE (details).
  3. Open a folder. Ingot reads AGENTS.md, .ingot/rules and your existing rules folders automatically.
  4. Open the Agents tool window and ask something about your code. Paste lines from the editor to attach them as chips.
  5. Review the edit. Changes arrive as a code-change block; accept or reject each hunk in the chat or right in the editor.
An agent edit arrives as a code-change block; one hunk is accepted and one rejected.

What makes Ingot different

  • Review every edit. Nothing an agent writes lands silently; the code-change bar walks you through each hunk.
  • Bring any model. Hosted aliases (Ingot Fast, Smart, Reasoning), your own keys or Ollama, side by side in one picker.
  • IDE-grade Git. Commit and Push windows, annotate / blame, line history and a three-pane merge.
  • Your keymap. Double Shift for Search Everywhere, ⌘⇧A for Find Action, or the platform's standard shortcuts.
